Mitakesan Shukubo Retreat tour to be held in Tokyo

Ensen Marugoto Co., Ltd., in collaboration with JR East Hachioji, has announced a limited two-day retreat tour titled ‘Mitakesan Shukubo Retreat.’ The tour is scheduled for November 28–29, 2026, in the Mitakesan area of Ome City, Tokyo.

Located within the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, the tour aims to promote the historical culture of ‘shukubo’ (temple lodgings) and the traditional ‘mōde’ pilgrimage culture. Participants will experience local hospitality, including stays in traditional lodgings, meals featuring seasonal mountain ingredients, star gazing, morning rituals, and Kagura performances.

The program includes nature walks, visits to Musashi Mitake Shrine, and opportunities to interact with local guides. The initiative seeks to transform Mitakesan from a one-time tourist destination into a place where visitors feel a lasting connection.
