Mitch McConnell faces calls to return to Senate or resign
Fox News contributor Joe Concha has called for Senator Mitch McConnell to either return to his Senate duties or resign, citing the lawmaker's prolonged absence from public view. Speaking on ‘The Big Weekend Show’, Concha stated that if McConnell does not return to Washington in September, he ‘needs to step down’. Concha emphasized that the senator needs to appear before a microphone to prove he can perform his job rather than relying on ‘proof of life’ photos from a hospital bed.
McConnell, the 84-year-old Republican from Kentucky, was hospitalized on June 14 following a fall at his home. His office later reported that he developed mild pneumonia during his stay and was subsequently moved to a rehabilitation facility. Although McConnell announced on August 6 that he had been discharged to continue physical therapy at home, he has not made a public appearance since his hospitalization.
The lack of direct communication and public presence has led to increasing scrutiny. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has also called for more transparency regarding the senator's condition to address ongoing speculation.
