Mitch McConnell remains out of public view following health issues
Senator Mitch McConnell has not been seen in public for at least 74 days, leading to questions regarding his health and his future in the Senate. McConnell was last seen on June 14, the same day he reportedly suffered cardiac arrest at home and required paramedics to perform CPR.
Following a period of hospitalization, McConnell’s office stated on July 12 that he had been treated for a fall and a “mild case of pneumonia.” On August 6, his office announced he had been discharged from a rehabilitation center to continue an “intensive regimen of physical therapy” at home.
Since that update, no new information has been released. His spokesperson, Stephanie Penn, stated she had “nothing to add” to the previous statement when asked for updates on his condition or a timeline for his return to Washington.
