Mitch Wishnowsky reverts to Patriots practice squad

Veteran punter Mitch Wishnowsky has officially reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad following his elevation for the team's home opener at Gillette Stadium. During the 20-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wishnowsky appeared for the second consecutive week, executing four punts with an average of 46.3 yards and a net average of 41.0 yards.

Wishnowsky, 34, joined the practice squad earlier this season to provide depth while incumbent punter Bryce Baringer remains on injured reserve. The former Ray Guy Award winner has appeared in 107 career games, including previous stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders, and Buffalo Bills. Under current NFL rules, Wishnowsky has one remaining standard elevation available this season before the team would need to move him to the active roster to utilize him again.
