Mitchell Starc becomes most successful left-arm Test bowler
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has achieved multiple milestones during the opening Test against Bangladesh in Darwin. By dismissing opener Shadman Islam, Starc became the most successful left-arm bowler in Test cricket history, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath.
With 435 wickets, Starc has also overtaken Indian legend Kapil Dev on the all-time Test wicket-takers list. He now sits 11th overall, trailing South Africa’s Dale Steyn (439 wickets) by four wickets. If he reaches 440 wickets, he will enter the top 10 of all-time leading wicket-takers.
Beyond his statistical achievements, Starc discussed the physical toll of his career, noting the extensive ankle and toe strapping required for every bowling spell to prevent further injury following multiple surgeries. He described himself as a ‘heel strike’ bowler, necessitating constant support to manage impingement issues.
