Mitchell Starc reaches 450 Test wickets as Australia drops Nathan Lyon
During the second Test match between Australia and South Africa at St George's Park in Gqeberha, Australian veteran spinner Nathan Lyon was dropped from the playing eleven for the first time in a red-ball Test since 2013. The Australian management opted for an all-pace attack, selecting Scott Boland to join Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood due to pitch conditions.
In the same match, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first left-arm bowler in Test cricket history to reach 450 wickets. Starc reached the mark on the third day of the match, surpassing Glenn McGrath's record for the fewest balls bowled to reach 450 wickets.
South Africa also made tactical changes, bringing in off-spinner Simon Harmer for Keshav Maharaj and debuting opener Marcus Ackermann. The series is currently tied at 1-1.
