Mitchell Weiser nears comeback for Werder Bremen

Mitchell Weiser may make his return to the Bundesliga squad for Werder Bremen this Saturday in an away match against 1. FC Köln. The 32-year-old winger has been sidelined for nearly 14 months following a severe knee injury, specifically a torn cruciate ligament sustained in July 2025.

Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune stated during a press conference that while Weiser is not expected to be a starter, his inclusion in the squad is a possibility. Thioune noted that Weiser has been participating in full training sessions over the past two weeks. A final decision regarding his availability will be made shortly before the match.

Despite the potential return of Weiser, Werder Bremen will still be without five players for the upcoming fixture, including Felix Agu, Keke Topp, Jens Stage, and Justin.
