Mitooma District infrastructure projects see progress

Ugandan Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has expressed satisfaction with the progress of several infrastructure projects in Mitooma District.

During an inspection of the Ncwera Bridge construction in Kyamwebya Village, Tayebwa noted that the project is intended to restore vital connections lost after the original 1985 bridge was destroyed by flash floods in 2021. The new bridge, which utilizes advanced technology designed to last at least 100 years, is currently approximately 40 percent complete and remains on schedule.

Additionally, Tayebwa commended the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineers Brigade for resuming work on health infrastructure, specifically at Bitereko Health Centre III and Kigyende Health Centre III. The resumption follows delays caused by difficult terrain and the loss of a bridge that hindered site access. The UPDF engineering teams are expected to make significant progress on these government-funded health facilities within the next six months.
