The 26th edition of the Prishtina 2026 Marathon has commenced, organized by the Kosovo Athletics Federation. The event features multiple disciplines, including a full marathon of 42.195 kilometers, a half marathon, 10km, 5km, and a 2km race for children. Approximately 1,700 participants have registered, including international runners from countries such as Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, and Serbia.

The marathon distance is part of the certified road race list for World Athletics for 2026. Halil Sylejmani, President of the Federation, noted the diverse range of participants and age groups, including a runner from Albania over 70 years old.

Due to the event, the Kosovo Police have announced significant traffic disruptions in Prishtina and Fushë-Kosova starting at 09:00. The Prishtina-Fushë-Kosova road is closed in both directions toward Peja until the Ibrahim Rugova highway junction. Public transport buses on the Prishtina–Fushë-Kosova–Aeroport and Peja routes are required to use designated alternative routes to avoid the closures.
