Mitrovica officials urge businesses to stop sourcing from Apetit

Armend Begu, head of the Vetëvendosje movement group in the Mitrovica Assembly, has called on local businesses—including restaurants, markets, and kebab shops—to immediately cease cooperation with the supplier Apetit.

The call follows reports from Montenegrin authorities regarding the seizure of approximately 102.5 tons of frozen beef from Brazil at the Port of Bar. The shipments were allegedly intercepted due to expired use-by dates and documentation irregularities.

Begu urged the Food and Veterinary Agency to investigate Apetit’s import and distribution methods to protect local businesses from potential risks. In response, the Food and Veterinary Agency has increased inspections of the operator, focusing on documentation, origin, and expiration dates. Apetit has denied that any of the intercepted meat entered the Kosovo market, stating the shipments were neither imported nor cleared through customs in the country.
