Police officials and suspects arrested in Albania and Kosovo
In Albania, the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has ordered the pretrial detention of former police official Uljan Shpataraku. Shpataraku was arrested in Durrës while traveling with businessman Ergys Agasi, who had been wanted by justice. Shpataraku faces charges of “supporting a criminal author.” During a search of his residence in Tirana, authorities seized seven weapons, including three pistols, two shotguns, and two rifles.
In Kosovo, police investigations into an attempted murder near the Zejtare Center in Mitrovica have led to the arrest of four suspects. The incident, which involved gunfire near Isa Boletini Square on August 9, resulted in the seizure of various ammunition and a revolver. Authorities believe the shooting involved two separate groups.
Additionally, Kosovo’s Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Land 3.2% UHT milk from markets. This follows a warning from North Macedonia, where 27 tons of the product were destroyed due to the presence of aflatoxin M1, a potentially carcinogenic mycotoxin.
