Mitsubishi announces Eclipse Sportback electric SUV for North America

Mitsubishi has announced the pricing and details for the Eclipse Sportback, a new all-electric compact crossover SUV scheduled for release in the United States and Canada in October. The vehicle is an OEM model based on the Nissan Leaf, reflecting the ongoing alliance and cooperation between the two manufacturers.

The Eclipse Sportback features a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an estimated EPA range of 282 miles (approximately 454 km) on a single charge. For charging versatility, the SUV supports the SAE J1772 standard for Level 1 and Level 2 charging, as well as the NACS standard used by Tesla for fast charging.

In the United States, the vehicle will start at $37,745. An optional “Technology Package” will also be available for $2,600. While the vehicle shares its underlying structure with the Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi has implemented unique exterior design elements, including redesigned bumpers, a specific grille, and custom headlights, taillights, and wheels.
