Mitsubishi Corp and Haseko open new shopping centre in Kamakura, Japan
Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development and Haseko Corporation completed the MCUD‑HASEKO Retail Kamakura Kajiwara neighbourhood shopping centre on 31 July 2026. The two‑storey complex, covering about 11,900 m² of floor space, will host anchor tenants Cainz (opening 28 August) and Life (opening 1 September) along with other retailers and services.
The centre is located in the quiet residential district of Kajiwara, Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, about a 12‑minute walk from Shōnan Shinsawa Station on the Shōnan Monorail. It is positioned near the UR‑led Murakami‑Shinsawa redevelopment zone, which includes the planned Murakami (Muraoka) new JR station slated to open in 2032, expected to increase foot traffic and local activity.
The development provides ample parking across its ground, second and rooftop levels and incorporates the city’s symbolic cherry‑blossom tree, aiming to blend commercial convenience with the area’s historic and natural ambience.
