Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback EV to Offer Dual Charging Standards Including Tesla Supercharger Access
Mitsubishi Motors announced that its 2027 Eclipse Sportback electric SUV will be released across North America in the fall of 2026. The vehicle will come equipped with a SAE J1772 plug for Level 1 and Level 2 home charging and will also support the North American Charging System (NACS), giving owners access to Tesla’s Supercharger network for Level 3 fast charging. Mitsubishi says the EV can charge at up to 150 kW, allowing a 10 %‑to‑80 % battery state of charge in roughly 35 minutes under optimal conditions. It will be powered by a 75 kWh liquid‑cooled lithium‑ion battery pack and will share its underlying architecture with Nissan’s next‑generation Leaf, sourced from Mitsubishi’s alliance partner Nissan Motor Co. The Eclipse Sportback EV is a centerpiece of Mitsubishi’s Momentum 2030 strategy, which emphasizes electrification, a refreshed product lineup, and enhanced dealer relationships. An off‑road‑focused version of the Outlander SUV is slated to follow in early 2027.
