Mitsubishi Electric and SWISSto12 partner on satellite payloads
SWISSto12 and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop advanced radio frequency (RF) products and satellite payloads. The partnership combines MELCO’s satellite system integration expertise with SWISSto12’s proprietary additive manufacturing (3D-printing) techniques. This approach aims to produce components with reduced structural mass and smaller physical envelopes while shortening production cycles.
As part of this strategic agreement, MELCO has awarded SWISSto12 a commercial supply contract to provide advanced phased array antenna assemblies. These components are intended for the Japanese government’s geostationary (GEO) secure communications initiative.
The collaboration seeks to address rising demand for sovereign communications infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region, covering land, air, sea, and space domains. SWISSto12’s HummingLink technology, which utilizes 3D printing, already has over 2,000 components active in orbit.
