Mitsubishi UFJ and au Jibun Bank to revise mutual transfer fees
Mitsubishi UFJ Bank and au Jibun Bank have announced they will revise their mutual transfer fee structures starting April 1, 2027. The changes will treat transfers between the two institutions as transfers to other banks, ending previous preferential treatment.
For au Jibun Bank customers, transfers to Mitsubishi UFJ Bank via smartphone or PC will incur a fee of 99 yen per transaction. However, customers can use their free transfer quotas provided by the ‘Jibun Plus’ loyalty program. Telephone transfers to Mitsubishi UFJ Bank will increase from 110 yen to 204 yen.
Mitsubishi UFJ Bank will also adjust its fees for transfers to au Jibun Bank. Internet banking transfers (Mitsubishi UFJ Direct) will no longer be free; they will cost 154 yen for amounts under 30,000 yen and 220 yen for amounts of 30,000 yen or more. ATM transfers using Mitsubishi UFJ cards will increase from 110 yen to 275 yen for individuals, while cash transfers will rise from 550 yen to 880 yen.
The revision follows a restructuring of the capital relationship between the banks. Following KDDI's acquisition of Mitsubishi UFJ Bank's 22% stake in au Jibun Bank, the two institutions are no longer part of the same capital group.
