Mitsuoka LA1: New retro roadster inspired by Corvette C1

Japanese boutique automaker Mitsuoka has released teaser images for its new two-seater roadster, the LA1. The vehicle features a retro-styled body inspired by the first-generation Chevrolet Corvette C1, characterized by quad headlights, extensive chrome detailing, and sweeping fender lines.

While the exterior evokes 1950s American muscle, the LA1 is built upon the modern Mazda MX-5 (ND generation) platform. This provides the vehicle with contemporary rear-wheel-drive mechanics, lightweight handling, and reliable Japanese engineering. The design was penned by Takanori Aoki, who previously designed Mitsuoka’s Corvette C2-inspired 'Rock Star' model.

Official technical specifications have not yet been released, but the car is expected to utilize Mazda’s 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. A full presentation is scheduled for November 26, 2026, with orders expected to open the following day in Japan.
