Mitsutoshi Furuya 90th Anniversary Exhibition to Open in Kichijoji

A special exhibition titled ‘66 Years of Diverse Storytelling Trajectories’ will be held at Rebest Gallery So in Kichijoji, Tokyo, starting August 21, 2026, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of manga artist Mitsutoshi Furuya.

The exhibition will feature approximately 100 original drawings, including about 20 color pieces and some previously unreleased materials. Works to be showcased include his famous titles such as ‘Dame Oyaji’, ‘Yose Geinin Den’, ‘Guutara Mama’, and ‘BAR Lemon Heart’.

In conjunction with the event, Family Kikaku Co., Ltd. has launched a crowdfunding campaign on CAMPFIRE to preserve Furuya’s extensive collection of original drawings. The campaign has already reached its initial goal of 1 million yen and is now pursuing a next goal of 1.5 million yen. Funds will be used for the restoration, organization, and digital archiving of the works to ensure they are preserved for future generations.
