Mittersheim: Two Ukrainians detained after fatal knife fight

Two Ukrainian nationals have been taken into custody following a fatal knife fight at a pond in Mittersheim, Moselle. The incident occurred during a fishing trip involving the suspects and two minors.

According to the prosecutor of Metz, David Touvet, the altercation involved a 43-year-old man who sustained three stab wounds to the abdomen. While his condition initially improved after emergency services intervened, the investigation shifted after a 44-year-old man, described as a Russian resident of Germany, was found dead in the pond on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities have expanded the initial murder attempt investigation to include murder and driving or operating under the influence of alcohol. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
