Mituo Port Milkfish Culture Festival begins in Kaohsiung

The 28th annual Mituo Port Milkfish Culture Festival officially opened on October 24 at Mituo Fishing Port. The event marks the start of the ‘2026 Eat the Sea’ series of activities, featuring eight major themes including stage performances, milkfish feasts, night markets, and cultural tours.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai attended the opening, participating in seafood auctions and highlighting the region's development. He noted that the city government has invested approximately 520 million TWD into Mituo to upgrade fishing port infrastructure and recreational facilities.

Mayor Chen also promoted North Kaohsiung as an ideal residential area for professionals in the growing semiconductor sector, citing the area's natural scenery and proximity to industrial hubs. Additionally, the city is working to include local high-quality fish products in school nutrition programs to support both student health and fisherman livelihoods.
