Miu Miu and New Balance launch 530 SL Mary Jane hybrid

Miu Miu and New Balance have expanded their collaboration with the introduction of the 530 SL Mary Jane, a luxury hybrid shoe that merges running sneaker technology with ballerina aesthetics. Priced at approximately 890 euros in Europe and 1,170 dollars in the United States, the footwear aims to provide a more comfortable alternative to traditional flat ballet shoes.

The design utilizes the technical foundation of the New Balance 530 running shoe, featuring a rubber sole for shock absorption and arch support. This construction addresses common issues with traditional leather-soled ballerinas, such as lack of support and fit instability.

This release follows the previous 530 SL model, which Miuccia Prada debuted at Paris Fashion Week by flattening the original silhouette. The new Mary Jane version further evolves this concept by modifying the upper construction and foot opening to mimic a dance shoe while maintaining the functional DNA of a sneaker.
