Miu Miu introduces imperfect ‘messy nail’ trend for spring-summer 2027

At the Miu Miu spring-summer 2027 fashion show in Paris, a new beauty trend emerged featuring deliberately imperfect, or ‘messy,’ manicures. Instead of the traditional precision seen in high-end nail art, models sported red polish that was applied unevenly and allowed to spill over onto the cuticles and fingertips.

The look was created by Japanese nail artist Mei Kawajiri, known as Nails by Mei. Kawajiri explained that the aesthetic was inspired by the image of a young girl hurriedly painting her nails or the idea of a loved one painting them for her, aiming to celebrate human imperfection over digital-looking perfectionism.

This shift toward a more natural, rebellious style comes as other trends, such as ‘Latte Lacquer’ and various jelly nail styles, gain popularity on platforms like Pinterest.
