MIWA festival to relaunch in Toulouse as Japanese cultural event

The Japanese cultural festival in Toulouse, previously known as Japan Touch and Tokyo Market, is rebranding as MIWA. The ninth edition of the event is scheduled to take place on September 5 and 6, 2026, at the Jardin Compans-Caffarelli.

The name MIWA is a contraction of ‘Niwa’ (garden) and ‘Matsuri’ (traditional Japanese festivals). The organizers aim to move beyond a standard convention format to provide a more immersive experience inspired by local Japanese neighborhood festivals.

The free event will feature a wide range of activities, including tea ceremonies, a creators' village, cosplay, gastronomy, and manga-related workshops and conferences. Additionally, there will be dedicated spaces for martial arts and budō demonstrations and initiations.
