Miwa Harimoto advances to WTT China Smash semifinals

Japanese table tennis players Miwa Harimoto and Hitomi Sato have secured spots in the women's singles semifinals at the WTT China Smash in Beijing.

In the quarterfinals, 18-year-old Harimoto staged a comeback victory against China's Wang Yidi, winning 4-2 after dropping the first two games. This follows Harimoto's earlier success in the doubles semifinals, where she and Hina Hayata defeated their opponents 3-1 to reach the finals.

Hitomi Sato also advanced by defeating China's Zhu Sibing 4-1 in a matchup featuring defensive chop styles. The semifinals will feature matchups between Japanese and Chinese athletes, with Harimoto set to face Wang Manyu and Sato scheduled to play Chen Xingtong.
