Mixologist Rhea Cox to showcase rum cocktail at Barbados Food and Rum Festival
Mixologist Rhea Cox is set to present a signature cocktail titled ‘Burn Mr Harding’ at the Liquid Gold Feast on November 8, 2026. The drink, part of the Barbados Food and Rum Festival’s grand finale, is inspired by the Crop Over traditions of Barbados, specifically the burning of the Mr Harding effigy.
Cox intends to use Mount Gay Black Barrel rum to complement flavors of cinnamon, ripe mango, smoke, and sugarcane syrup. The cocktail aims to explore themes of hardship, hope, and renewal through its aromatic and flavor profile. Cox, whose interest in rum stems from a desire to understand how raw materials produce diverse spirits, describes the drink as an interpretation of cultural heritage.
