Miyagi body abandonment case: Bar owner arrested

Authorities are investigating the suspected abandonment of a 25-year-old woman's body in the mountains of Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture. Takuya Miura, a 36-year-old bar owner, was arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body of his partner, Maho Muroga, on September 28.

Forensic examinations indicate the cause of death was likely asphyxiation due to pressure on the neck, as a plastic bag was found covering the victim's head. Miura has denied the charges, claiming he has “no memory” of the incident. Investigators noted inconsistencies in his statements regarding his travel from Tokyo to Miyagi; while he initially claimed he was purchasing alcohol for his business, he later stated he was visiting a hot spring, though records show he only stopped at one for ten minutes, suggesting a possible attempt to create a false alibi.

In separate criminal incidents in Japan, a 30-year-old man, Mikihara, was arrested for the attempted murder of a man and the killing of a 52-year-old woman in Gunma Prefecture. Additionally, a man was arrested in Tokyo for filming explicit videos of a 16-year-old girl in the Kabukicho area, and a 41-year-old man was apprehended in Kanagawa Prefecture for a series of thefts targeting elderly women on bicycles.
