Miyajima Tourism Association to host Miyajima Yoichi night event
The Miyajima Tourism Association has announced the Miyajima Yoichi night event, scheduled for November 21, 2026. The initiative aims to transform Miyajima from a day-trip destination into a stay-over destination, helping to alleviate daytime congestion and increase tourism spending.
The event will feature various programs, including a night market at the Miyajima Pier plaza with over 20 food and retail booths, special night tours, and rickshaw services. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its World Heritage status, Itsukushima Shrine will offer special nighttime viewings, while Momijidani Park and Daisho-in Temple will be illuminated.
Other activities include amulet-making experiences, Zen meditation sessions, and traditional music performances. The association intends to use this high-season event to build awareness for the island's nighttime and early morning charms, with plans to potentially hold the event more regularly in the future.
