Miyu Yamamoto secures first professional boxing victory at age 52
Miyu Yamamoto, a former world champion wrestler turned mixed martial artist and professional boxer, has achieved a significant milestone in her combat sports career. At age 52, Yamamoto secured her first professional boxing victory via a third-round TKO at Korakuen Hall, setting a record as the oldest participant in a domestic male or female bout.
Yamamoto’s career spans approximately 45 years of combat sports. She rose to prominence as a teenage wrestling prodigy, winning the World Wrestling Championships at age 17. After multiple retirements and returns throughout her wrestling career and a tenure in the RIZIN MMA organization, she transitioned to professional boxing. She is currently training under former three-division world champion Homoe Hasegawa.
