Miyu Yamashita leads CPKC Women’s Open by five strokes

Miyu Yamashita has established a commanding five-stroke lead at the CPKC Women’s Open at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton. After opening with a season-low 62, the 25-year-old Japanese golfer followed up with a 64, bringing her total to 14-under par.

Chasing Yamashita are Soo Bin Joo of South Korea, Yuri Yoshida of Japan, and American Kiara Romero, all tied at 9-under par. Romero, making her professional debut, is performing strongly in her first event as an LPGA Tour member.

Canadian star and defending champion Brooke Henderson sits at 5-under par after a second-round 68. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Canadian Anna Huang has successfully made the cut for the first time in her career, currently positioned at 7-under par. Players throughout the tournament have noted challenges with mosquitoes on the tree-lined course.
