Mizoram defeats Meghalaya 3-0 to advance in Dr BC Roy Trophy
Meghalaya has been eliminated from the Junior Boys National Football Championship 2026-27 (Tier 1) for the Dr BC Roy Trophy following a 3-0 loss to Mizoram in Bengaluru. Entering the final Group C match, both teams were tied on six points, but Mizoram held a superior goal difference of +9 compared to Meghalaya’s +4. Because only the group winners advance to the semi-finals, Meghalaya required a victory to progress.
Mizoram secured the win with goals from C Lalhmingropuia, who scored in the 25th minute with a long-range effort that deflected through the hands of goalkeeper Alvin Kharbani, and again in the 56th minute with a cross that curled into the net. Malsawmtluanga added a third goal during stoppage time following a corner kick.
Despite the exit, Meghalaya’s performance showed improvement over the 2025-26 season, where they suffered three consecutive defeats.
