Mizuki Maehara discusses ‘Toyotomi Brothers!’ role at NHK event

Actor Mizuki Maehara, who portrays Jinbei Soeda (known as Jinsuke) in the NHK Taiga drama ‘Toyotomi Brothers!’, shared insights into his role and the production during a special talk show at the ‘NHK Autumn Festival’ in Nagasaki City on September 12.

Maehara discussed the challenges of acting in a period drama, specifically the difficulty of portraying values from an era where social advancement often involved violence. He highlighted the ‘Kanegasaki retreat’ scene as a particularly memorable moment of action and unity among the retainers.

Reflecting on the ‘Toyotomi Family’ bond, Maehara described it as a sense of having a place to return to regardless of circumstances. He noted that while his character may feel a growing distance from the rising Hideyoshi and Hidenaga, his co-stars Taiga Nakano and Sosuke Ikematsu maintain a warm, familial atmosphere on set. Maehara also teased upcoming emotional developments, including a significant separation between his character and Asahi.
