Mizuno announces Hyperwarp 96, the world's lightest running shoe
Mizuno has announced the release of the Hyperwarp 96, a speed racing running shoe that weighs approximately 96g (based on a 27.0cm size). This model is currently the lightest running shoe in the market, surpassing the 97g weight of the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3.
The shoe features several proprietary technologies, including the newly developed MIZUNO ENERZY XP+ LIMITED EDITION midsole designed to balance lightweight properties with high energy return and cushioning. It also incorporates a full-length 3D-shaped carbon plate called the SMOOTH SPEED PLATE to provide stability and propulsion. The Dual Skin Upper utilizes TPU fiber structure control to achieve a lightweight, high-fit design without the need for traditional laces or internal straps.
To commemorate the weight of the shoe, Mizuno is releasing a limited edition of only 696 pairs worldwide. Each pair will include a serial code and a special edition shoe box. The product is priced at 88,000 yen and will be available through Mizuno's official online store and direct retailers, with a wider release to select running specialty stores scheduled for January 2027.
