MJ The Michael Jackson Musical to debut in Singapore in August 2027

The Tony Award-winning production ‘MJ The Michael Jackson Musical’ is scheduled to make its Singapore debut in August 2027. The limited season will be held at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, as part of an international Asian tour.

Set in 1992, the musical focuses on the creative process behind Michael Jackson’s Dangerous World Tour. Rather than a traditional biography, the narrative is framed through the eyes of an MTV journalist granted access to the rehearsal room, allowing the show to explore both the tour preparations and pivotal moments from Jackson’s career. The production features more than 25 of Jackson’s hits, including ‘Beat It’, ‘Smooth Criminal’, ‘Man in the Mirror’, and ‘Thriller’.

The musical was written by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon OBE. The Singapore engagement, presented by Base Entertainment Asia, holds historical significance as Jackson performed two sold-out concerts in the city during the original 1993 Dangerous World Tour.
