MJF sparks debate over AEW backstage politics and Wembley success

Professional wrestler MJF has sparked debate within the industry regarding backstage dynamics and the success of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Ahead of AEW All In 2026, MJF claimed that approximately 99 percent of wrestling veterans protect their own interests and may not have the best intentions for younger talent, potentially viewing them as threats to their own positions and earnings.

Eric Bischoff commented on these remarks, noting that while there is truth to the idea of veterans prioritizing their own interests, the 99 percent figure is likely an exaggeration. Bischoff suggested that while many veterans may be self-interested, there are many instances where established stars actively work to mentor rising talent.

In a separate critique, former WWE star Val Venis dismissed AEW as “video game wrestling” following MJF’s assertions that the company has captured the interest of “real wrestling fans.” MJF defended the company’s growth, citing AEW’s ability to repeatedly sell out Wembley Stadium in the UK as evidence of a massive, loyal international audience. For the 2026 event, AEW has distributed 43,845 tickets.
