MKE Ankaragücü celebrates 116 years of history

MKE Ankaragücü is celebrating its 116th anniversary. The club's origins date back to August 31, 1910, in Istanbul, beginning with football communities within the Imalat-ı Harbiye organization.

During the Turkish War of Independence, club members moved to Ankara, where they supported the struggle by producing weapons and ammunition while continuing football activities. Following the merger of Anadolu Sanatkarangücü and Turan Sanatkarangücü in 1923, the club entered a new era in Ankara. It officially adopted the name Ankaragücü Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü in 1933.

Throughout its history, the club has achieved significant milestones, including winning the Turkish Football Championship in 1949, the Turkish Cup in 1972 and 1981, and the Presidential Cup in 1981. For the 2026-2027 season, the club is set to compete in the Nesine 2. Lig Red Group.
