MKE Gazi Fişek Fabrikası worker killed in Ankara accident

A fatal industrial accident occurred at the Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) Gazi Fişek Fabrikası in the Etimesgut district of Ankara on September 27, 2026. The incident took place during routine maintenance and repair work at the facility's water heating center.

According to statements from MKE management, four employees were affected by the accident. One maintenance worker, identified as Ferhat Öz, died despite medical interventions. Of the remaining injured personnel, one has been discharged following outpatient treatment, while the other two remain hospitalized, with one reported to be in serious condition.

MKE clarified that the accident was confined to the water heating center and did not affect the factory's production lines. Technical and administrative investigations have been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
