MKU Limited to establish defense manufacturing plant in Morocco

Indian defense technology firm MKU Limited has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Morocco. The proposed factory will be located in the SGZID zone of Nouaceur, near Casablanca.

The facility is intended to produce electro-optic systems for surveillance, reconnaissance, and target acquisition through its Netro Optronics division, as well as protective equipment such as body armor, ballistic helmets, and shields via its Kavro Protection division. The site is expected to serve the Moroccan armed forces—to whom MKU has been a supplier for five years—and act as an export hub for markets across Africa and Europe.

While the company has confirmed its intention to transition from a direct supplier to a local manufacturer to improve delivery and technical support, specific details regarding the total investment amount, factory capacity, and construction timeline have not yet been disclosed. This move follows similar industrial developments in the region, such as the recent inauguration of a Tata Advanced Systems plant in Berrechid.
