Mladost kindergarten renovation delay sparks parent protests
Parents of approximately 200 children from the 76th kindergarten in the Mladost district of Sofia are protesting a renovation that has been ongoing for nearly a year. The parents report that the completion deadline has been extended twice, causing significant disruption.
During the delay, children from seven different groups have been redistributed among other kindergartens in the area, with some reportedly being accommodated in gymnasiums. Tensions escalated after the kindergarten announced it would begin admitting new children for the upcoming school year despite the unfinished construction.
The Sofia Municipality stated that the contracting firm has provided assurances to complete the work by September 24. Meanwhile, a meeting with district administration officials is scheduled for September 2 to clarify where the children will be placed for the new school year.
