Málaga advances Rafa Nadal tennis club project

The Málaga City Council is moving forward with a key step for a tennis project involving Rafa Nadal. Mayor Francisco de la Torre announced that the Local Government Board plans to approve the tender specifications for the concession of municipal facilities located on the western coast near the José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace next week.

The project, which has been pending for over three years, involves the former Inacua racquet center. The developer Sierra Blanca Estates and Rafa Nadal’s team aim to establish a new sports club under the Rafa Nadal Academy brand. Because the land is public, the bidding process will be open, meaning the proposal from Nadal’s team must compete with other interested companies.

Mayor de la Torre highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships, noting that such collaborations allow the city to provide high-quality facilities that would otherwise be unaffordable through public budgets alone.
