Málaga and Granada target central defenders Carlos Domínguez and José Fontán

Málaga CF is monitoring Celta de Vigo defender Carlos Domínguez as a possible addition to its back line. The 25‑year‑old left‑footed centre‑back, who has played 78 La Liga matches and signed a contract extension with Celta until 2028, is being evaluated for his height, ball‑playing ability and suitability to the team’s tactical system.

Granada CF has identified FC Arouca centre‑back José Fontán as a priority signing. The 25‑year‑old, also a left‑footed defender trained at Celta’s academy, can also operate as a left‑back. Granada faces competition from Sporting de Gijón and Real Oviedo, both of which have contacted the player’s representative, adding pressure to close the deal quickly.

Both clubs are seeking to strengthen their defensive units ahead of the upcoming season, with Málaga focusing on a player under contract until 2028 and Granada aiming to secure a versatile defender amid a three‑way bidding contest.
