Málaga celebrates its traditional Feria festival

The Feria de Málaga, one of southern Spain’s most iconic and crowded festivals, continues its tradition of celebrating local history and culture. The festivities are deeply rooted in the city’s history, specifically the entry of the Catholic Monarchs into Málaga on August 19, following the end of a long siege during the Reconquista.

In the city center, the festival brings significant life to areas such as Calle Larios and Plaza de la Constitución. Local gastronomy plays a central role, with traditional establishments like Las Merchanas and various brotherhood tents offering classic tapas and local drinks. The event features a mix of musical performances, ranging from local singers to prominent artists, and maintains long-standing traditions such as the official festival proclamation, which began in its current oratorical form in 1987.
