Málaga CF’s promotion leads to player apology and stadium redevelopment study

Málaga Club de Fútbol secured promotion to LaLiga after defeating UD Almería in the playoff final. In the celebrations, forward Carlos Ruiz Rubio, known as “Chupe”, took part in chants directed at Sevilla FC. He later posted a public apology on social media, writing: “¡Hola sevillistas! Quería pediros disculpas… Fue un día de muchas emociones y quizás me equivoqué.” Ruiz Rubio highlighted his four‑year spell in Sevilla’s academy and stressed he did not want the incident to tarnish his memories of the club.

Ahead of the new season, the Provincial Council of Málaga announced that a study commissioned to the temporary joint venture of TYPSA and Fenwick Iribarren will be presented soon. The report evaluates options for the La Rosaleda stadium, considering capacity, feasibility, traffic impact and the need to avoid disruption to Málaga CF during any works. The council’s president said the study will guide the “best solution for Málaga and the city.”
