Málaga completes filming of ‘Veleta’ about football pioneer Nita Carmona

Filming has concluded in Málaga for the feature film ‘Veleta’, which tells the story of Ana ‘Nita’ Carmona Ruiz, a pioneer of women's football in Spain. During the 1920s, Carmona famously disguised herself as a man to participate in the sport.

Directed by Paco Torres and written by Torres alongside Amaya Muruzábal, the production utilized various locations across Andalusia, including Torrox, Villanueva del Cauche, and Motril, to recreate the atmosphere of 1920s Málaga. The cast is led by Zoe Bonafonte as Nita Carmona, with Goya winner Dani Rovira portraying the protagonist's father. The ensemble also includes Adelfa Calvo, Mariola Fuentes, and Irish actor Moe Dunford.

The film is a co-production involving Blend Studios, Nephilim Producciones, M Content, and Lahaye Media, with support from Radio y Televisión de Andalucía (RTVA) and the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA).
