Málaga conference promotes entrepreneurship for people with disabilities

The ‘Impulso del Emprendimiento Sostenible en Andalucía’ conference was held in Málaga to address barriers to self-employment for people with disabilities. The event brought together government administrations, business organizations, and entrepreneurs to transform business ideas into viable projects.

Data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) for 2024 indicates that the activity rate for people with disabilities aged 16 to 64 is 35.4%, with an employment rate of 28.9% and an unemployment rate of 18.5%. Given these figures, entrepreneurship is being promoted as a vital alternative to traditional employment.

Support measures were highlighted by various entities. The Diputación de Málaga announced a 1.7 million euro fund, with nearly half dedicated to organizations working with people with disabilities. Additionally, the Junta de Andalucía provides an entrepreneurship portal offering access to over one hundred advisors.
