Málaga Diputación launches flamenco program for students

The Málaga Provincial Council (Diputación de Málaga) has announced the relaunch of the ‘Flamenco en las Aulas’ program to promote flamenco culture among students. Organized by the Delegation of Education and Youth, the initiative coincides with International Flamenco Day on November 16.

The program aims to reach approximately 5,000 students from various educational levels, from early childhood to secondary school, across roughly 50 centers. Key activities include five ‘cajoneadas’—percussion sessions where 100 students play in unison—scheduled for Archidona, Alozaina, Vélez-Málaga, Pizarra, and Fuengirola.

Additionally, the initiative includes workshops such as ‘Buscadores de flamenco,’ designed for children aged 6 to 12. This specific component will reach 22 centers through 52 workshops, involving about 2,600 students, with a particular focus on educational centers in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.
