Málaga hosts European conference on urban forestry and green infrastructure
Málaga hosted the first European meeting of Tree Cities of the World (TCOW) and the fifth European i-Tree Conference from September 23 to 25. Held at the La Concepción Botanical-Historical Garden and the University of Málaga, the event gathered international experts, researchers, public managers, and green infrastructure professionals to discuss the planning and sustainable management of urban forests.
Under the theme ‘For an Urban Forest without Frontiers’, the conference emphasized the need for increased cooperation between municipalities and countries. The goal is to ensure equitable access to the ecological, social, and health benefits provided by urban trees. The event was organized globally by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with technical coordination in Spain by the Arbocity Association in partnership with Alberitalia from Italy and Trees4Cities from the United Kingdom.
