Málaga Metropolitan Transport Consortium increases bus services
The Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Málaga Area will reinforce bus services starting Monday, October 26, to address rising demand and prevent service saturation in the Axarquía corridor. The plan introduces 59 additional daily trips, increasing the total number of expeditions from 386 to 445.
Specific increases include 12 additional trips for Rincón de la Victoria, 11 for Los Rubios, 22 for Torre del Mar, and 14 for Vélez-Málaga. To alleviate peak-hour delays, new direct services via highways will be established to connect these areas with Málaga capital, addressing long-standing demands from students and workers.
The expansion follows increased ridership after Vélez-Málaga joined the Consortium’s integrated tariff system on May 1. Additionally, the Junta de Andalucía has implemented measures to ensure continued public transport in Alcaucín, Viñuela, Salares, Sedella, Canillas de Aceituno, and Trapiche following the departure of a previous operator.
