Málaga officials honor Bernardo de Gálvez in Washington
Officials from Málaga, including Mayor Francisco de la Torre and Provincial Council President Francisco Salado, participated in commemorative events in Washington D.C. to honor Bernardo de Gálvez. The delegation laid a floral offering at the equestrian statue of the military figure, who was born in Macharaviaya and played a key role in the independence of the United States.
The visit is part of the Hispanic Heritage Day celebrations organized by the Embassy of Spain in the United States, with Málaga serving as an invited destination. The agenda includes visits to portraits of Gálvez at the U.S. Capitol and the National Portrait Gallery, as well as a scheduled reception with Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.
Beyond historical commemorations, the delegation is engaging in institutional and economic promotion. This includes a meeting with Ming Zhang, a global director at the World Bank, to discuss tourism, water management, and urban development collaboration.
