Spanish Police alert on 'curis' social media accounts targeting schools
The Spanish National Police have issued an alert regarding the rise of 'curis' accounts on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. These anonymous profiles typically use the name, acronym, or logo of specific schools or institutes to share memes, drawings, and videos about daily classroom life.
While many posts are intended as harmless humor, authorities warn that these accounts are increasingly being used to ridicule, humiliate, or harass specific students and teachers. The police emphasize that even without using full names or photographs, individuals can be easily identified through nicknames, caricatures, or references to specific classes.
Such actions can constitute serious crimes against moral integrity or grave insults, leading to both criminal and civil liabilities. Authorities advise victims to preserve evidence by taking screenshots that include dates and usernames, and to report the content to the platforms and local law enforcement.
