Málaga unveils interactive hiking map as Fuengirola promotes Caminito del Rey

The Provincial Council of Málaga has launched an interactive viewer that lets users plan and follow more than 1,400 km of marked trails across the province. Hosted on the official Gran Senda de Málaga website, the tool offers 3‑D maps, real‑time user localisation, technical details for each route (distance, terrain, difficulty, public facilities) and access to the Gran Senda de la Axarquía, the Gran Senda de Málaga, the Serranía de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves, the Guadalhorce, the Camino Mozárabe de Santiago and the Camino Geológico Malacitano. Vice‑president Cristóbal Ortega described it as “a very useful consultation tool to find the route and experience that best fits each person.”

At the same time, the coastal town of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol is being highlighted as a practical base for day‑trips to the region’s most requested attraction, the Caminito del Rey. The narrow‑valley walk requires advance booking through its official reservation platform, and visitors are advised to travel early by the Cercanías train from Fuengirola to avoid traffic and queues. The guide stresses combining beach time, historic villages and mountain air in a single day, with the Caminito del Rey as the centerpiece of a well‑planned itinerary.
